If you are going on holiday it is common to leave a key with friends or family so they can check that everything is fine and there are no signs of a break-in. In some cases you may also arrange for cleaners while you are away, or for someone to look after your pets.

A smart system also tells you immediately if something is wrong. You can set it to notify you of water leaks, fire, carbon monoxide and intruder alarms, so you can get help even when you are not there.
